To create a user-friendly and visually appealing platform that would make it easy for both buyers and sellers to navigate and use the marketplace, while also catering to the needs of the cycling community. Letting share the common space to both buyer & seller was quite risky & we had to manage it in a way that they both find their required things.
It’s a USA-based e-commerce marketplace, an online platform that allows multiple vendors to sell Gear/Bike to customers & where buyer can make purchase in bulk or single item. The platform where majorly client wanted to push the seller community in an initial phase to set up a business in the longer term.
Our first meeting with client to go deep into project understanding to officially start the project. All the required departments where in the meeting to understand the project goals. We focused on the business background, competitor’s business, underlying problems and insights, target audience, design direction, project plan and questions.
We started talking to a few vendors about how they usually sell their gear and also did market research, where we explored well-known online platforms to understand what particular information they take from seller while listing their products. Also understand buyer’s behavior while purchasing single/bulk items from an online platform. As we were working for a product that has foreign-based users, we took help from client to understand their mentality towards the product & language.
After the product meeting, we sketched out rough flows and wireframes to summarize and plan how we design them. We were involved in the project from ideation, so we understood the end to end flows. After defining the flows with the team (mostly with product owner and a product manager) we documented it. Once the flows/wireframes confirmed by all team, we started to create hi-fi wireframes.
Decided to keep design simple and clear, with easy-to-navigate menus and search filters. Tried to focus on a variety of categories provided by platform to help users quickly find the products they are looking for
1. Seller will switch screen by selecting sell gear from nav bar. 2. Then he can even search for the product which he wants to list or can start from scratch.3. On scrolling down he’ll get to see more section which will educate him about the flow & benefits of selecting this platform.
Offering robust listing features enables sellers to easily and effectively showcase their products. When sellers have access to comprehensive and customizable listing options, they can create compelling product listings that highlight the unique features, specifications, and benefits of their offerings. This, in turn, leads to a more positive and productive seller experience on the platform. Effective listing features contribute to higher conversion rates. When sellers can provide accurate and detailed information about their products, it helps buyers make informed purchase decisions.
Here Seller would expect a streamlined and efficient onboarding process that allows them to quickly set up their online store and start selling. User-friendly interfaces, clear instructions, and intuitive seller dashboards help sellers easily list their products, manage inventory, and track sales.
